Economy
Every person deserves a genuine opportunity to pursue the American Dream. The American Dream requires prosperity – the power and means to overcome your problems and pursue your dreams – and is secured by a safety net of human relationships, a foundation of private institutions that empower and assist people, and a government that respects and protects everyone’s freedom. A free market economy – defined by human interactions, not numbers – is the best means of spreading prosperity to the greatest number of individuals, families and communities, because it promotes employment as the best means to pursue quality of life, encourages balance between long-term priorities and short-term needs, and protects people against excessive or misplaced government burdens.
The free market promotes prosperity by encouraging a range of options to improve quality of life, ensuring that people experience the full benefits and costs of their economic decisions, and removing barriers that prevent communities from solving problems and caring for their vulnerable members. The prosperity that comes from the free market – the prosperity which safeguards the American Dream – protects human dignity, builds strong communities and is sustainable not only for ourselves, but for our children and future generations.
